Three Virgin Australia crew have been confined to their hotel in Fiji over an incident that unfolded after they landed at Nadi International Airport, 7NEWS understands.

7NEWS was told the crew has been separated and restricted to their rooms at Hotel Tanoa.

A Virgin management team has flown in to investigate, and family members of the crew involved are also travelling over to the country in the South Pacific.

A spokesperson for Virgin confirmed the incident.

They did not reveal details but said “our focus is on the welfare of the crew”.

A replacement team has been dispatched to fly the original plane home.
