Three-year-old filly Real Class has been sold to Australian Bloodstock following her impressive victory in the Group 2 Sir Patrick Hogan Stakes (2000m) on New Year’s Day.
Trained by Jenna Mahoney at Byerley Park, the Vadamos filly is emerging as one of New Zealand’s top staying prospects.
Real Class’s journey began modestly, finishing eighth on debut in November 2023.
She quickly found her stride with a stylish maiden win at Te Aroha before finishing a fast-finishing third in the G2 Eight Carat Classic (1600m) on Boxing Day.
Her dominant Sir Patrick Hogan Stakes win confirmed her potential, with Australian Bloodstock’s Luke Murrell calling her “one of the better fillies over in New Zealand this year.”
Plans are underway for Real Class to target the G1 New Zealand Oaks (2400m) on March 22, now worth $1 million.
She shares second favouritism with betting sites in Australia at $10, with a long-term move to Chris Waller’s Australian stable on the horizon.
