The chief executive of Paralympics Australia has quit only a month out from the beginning of the Paris Games.
Paralympics Australia (PA) announced in a statement on Wednesday that Catherine Clark had resigned following a two-and-a-half-year stint in the job, but the organisation did not give a reason for her departure.
Cameron Murray, PA’s head of commercial, has been appointed to the role of interim chief executive.

“It’s been a tremendous honour to be a part of the Australian Paralympic movement,” Clark said.
“This really is an incredible community. I am immensely proud of our Imagine Strategic Plan, the progress we have made towards equity and in raising the profile of para-sport.
“I want to express my sincere thanks to everyone for their support during my time at PA.
“The stage is well and truly set for Paris. The athletes and their support teams are ready. I hand over to them with complete confidence as they are poised to create their magic.”
The Paralympics will begin with the opening ceremony on August 28 and conclude on September 8.
PA launched its team for Paris 2024 in a ceremony at Parliament House on Tuesday.
Among Australia’s genuine gold medal contenders are swimmers Alexa Leary and Rowan Crothers, long jumper Vanessa Low, rowing pair Jed Altschwager and Nikki Ayers, and cyclists Emily Petricola and Darren Hicks.
PA’s co-captains for Paris 2024 are rower Curtis McGrath and wheelchair racer Angie Ballard.
