Australian bowler Spencer Johnson has been ruled out of next month’s white-ball tour of the United Kingdom after sustaining a side strain while representing The Oval Invincibles in The Hundred.
The 28-year-old, who has played five T20Is since his international debut last year, is expected to miss the remainder of The Hundred after managing just five deliveries during last week’s victory over the London Spirit at The Oval.
“(Johnson) will return home for further assessment rehabilitation before the Australian summer,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.

The left-armed quick, who helped the Brisbane Heat win its second Big Bash League earlier this year, took two wickets at 64.00 in six matches for the Invincibles.
New South Wales all-rounder Sean Abbott, who had already been named Australia’s ODI squad for the tour of Scotland and England, will replace Johnson in the T20 touring party.
Johnson, who has an unfortunate history with injury, claimed 19 wickets at 14.47 during last summer’s BBL campaign, taking 4-26 during January’s triumphant final against the Sydney Sixers at the SCG.
After turning heads in the Big Bash and The Hundred, the South Australian was snapped up by the Gujarat Titans for $1.78 million at last year’s Indian Premier League Auction.
Last month, CA announced that bowlers Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins, along with all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, had been rested for the T20 leg of the United Kingdom tour, which gets underway on September 4.
