Australian Fashion Industry’s Best of 2024 Celebrated in Sydney – Travel And Tour World

IMG recently revealed the recipients of the 2024 Australian Fashion Laureate, which acknowledges significant achievements within the Australian fashion sector. Launched in 2008 in collaboration with the NSW Government, this accolade recognizes the exceptional contributions and accomplishments within Australian design, sustainability, and leadership in the fashion industry.

The list of 2024 honorees was unveiled during a festive luncheon held at the Bennelong Restaurant in Sydney:

  • Designer of the Year, sponsored by Shark Beauty
    • Lesleigh Jermanus, ALÈMAIS
  • Emerging Designer of the Year, sponsored by Pandora
    • Gabriella Pereira, Beare Park
  • Indigenous Designer of the Year, sponsored by BYHEALTH
  • Sustainable Designer of the Year, sponsored by The Volte
    • Laura May and Hannah Gibbs, Nagnata
  • Carla Zampatti Award for Excellence in Leadership
    • Andie Halas, Thread Together
  • Australian Fashion Laureate for Lifetime Achievement

“The Australian Fashion Laureate provides an important platform for honouring the creative excellence and achievements of the Australian Fashion industry, highlighting the most noteworthy innovations and conversations shaping our industry.

We are thrilled to bring the industry together for our final event to celebrate the accomplishments of Australian designers and industry leaders who have been the driving force behind Australian fashion’s cultural and economic impact this year,” said Natalie Xenita, Vice President-Managing Director of IMG Fashion Events and Properties, Asia-Pacific.

Selection of the Australian Fashion Laureate winners involved a panel of over 35 industry leaders including media personnel, buyers, stylists, communication experts, designers, and top business and retail executives.

The Australian Fashion Laureate enjoys robust support from the NSW Government via its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW. Other partners include BYHEALTH, David Jones, K&L Gates, Pandora, Shark Beauty, The Volte, and Dinosaur Designs, the latter providing the coveted Australian Fashion Laureate statuettes.
