Australian golfer Hannah Green has broken into the top 10 in the latest Women’s World Golf Rankings following her successful title defence at the LA Championship 2024 at the Wilshire Country Club in Los Angeles, California on Sunday.

Thanks to her fifth win on the LPGA Tour, Green jumped 10 places to go from No. 18 to world No. 8 in the recently released Women’s World Golf Rankings. This is her career-best ranking.

The 27-year-old defeated Sweden’s Maja Stark by three strokes and carded 12-under 272 (67-69-70-66) to register her second victory of the season last weekend.

Green is also hopeful about representing Australia at the Paris 2024 Olympics. She finished tied for fifth in the women’s golf tournament at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

“It’s definitely been on my mind. Still have six or seven weeks until the team is announced, so still a lot that can happen between now and then,” she said after the LA Championship 2024 win. “I think now that I’ve had two wins in the season hopefully that jumps me close to the top 10 in the world and solidifies my spot.”

Green is also ranked eighth in the Olympic Golf Rankings (OGR) and is in a great spot to secure a Paris 2024 quota. The top 60 players on the OGR after the qualification window ends in June obtain quotas for the Olympic Games.

Green is followed by compatriot Minjee Lee in ninth place in the OGR standings. Grace Kim (82nd), Gabriel Ruffels (83rd) and Stephanie Kyriacou (88th) are also in the hunt to secure Olympic berths for Australia.

The 27-year-old Green has already secured 24 career top 10 finishes, including five wins. She is also currently second in the Player of the Year race.
