Australian men’s basketball team for Paris 2024 Olympics – full Boomers squad

Patty Mills will captain the 12-member Australian men’s basketball team for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The Boomers squad was announced by the Australian Olympic Team’s Chef de Mission Anna Meares in Melbourne on Sunday.

Mills and Joe Ingles will play at their fifth Olympic Games, joining Andrew Gaze as the only Australian men’s basketballers to play at five Olympics. The Boomers squad includes eight members of the Tokyo Olympic bronze medal-winning team.

Matthew Dellavedova will make his fourth appearance at the Games. Dante Exum, Josh Green, Nick Kay, Jock Landale and Duop Reath return for their second while Dyson Daniels, Josh Giddey, Will Magnay and Jack McVeigh will make their Olympic debuts.

The Boomers, fifth in the men’s FIBA rankings, are drawn in Pool A with Canada and the winners of the Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in Greece and Spain. The team will begin its campaign on July 27.

At the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, the Boomers, led by Patty Mills, broke their 65-year medal drought by claiming the bronze medal. They topped their pool before defeating Argentina in their quarter-finals. They lost to the USA in the semi-finals and beat Slovenia 107-93 in the bronze medal match.

Basketball at the Paris 2024 Olympics will be played from July 27 to August 10 at two different venues. The group phases will be played at Pierre Mauroy Stadium in Lille while the knockout rounds will be played at the Bercy Arena in Paris.
