Getting a house on rent is a very difficult task in itself and people resort to expensive prices even though the facilities provided are not good enough. Through such experiences, people get to know how the world works. A mother from Australia is going viral online for making her daughter experience something similar so that she is ready for life.

The mother, Kat Clark, from the state of Queensland, in Australia is gaining attention online for charging her daughter rent, to live in their own house. A mother of two and a resident of Gold Coast explained in her TikTok video that she makes her oldest daughter, Latisha a 20-year-old, pay rent.

Unsurprisingly, she received a lot of flak from the netizens, one even claiming that this was very “embarrassing” of her, the Sun reported. However, this did not bother Kat at all, as she claimed that she was preparing her daughter for the “real world”.

She revealed further that she does not use the money, rather she deposits it in a bank account for her daughter. She said that she deposits the rent in an investment fund, something her daughter can use in the future to buy a place for herself. Kat stated, “I feel like I’m setting her up for success, while at the same time, teaching her about the real world because it ain’t free to live.”

The clip was posted on her account called @katclark, it has amassed more than 275,500 likes so far on the site. Netizens reacted in the replies. A user wrote, “I had to pay rent as soon as I started working. You’re a great mum.” Another stated, “Girl there is nothing wrong with charging rent.”
