In a post on X on Sunday evening (AEDT), the world No.10 said it was the same injury that plagued her at the end of last year.
“It’s really disappointing because I love playing in Melbourne and have such great memories from reaching the quarter finals last year,” she said.

Krejcikova, Karolina Pliskova, and Caroline Wozniacki are the only women in the top-100 to have pulled out of the event.
Meanwhile, world No.2 Iga Swiatek has allayed fears she too is in doubt after appearing hampered in her United Cup final loss to Coco Gauff.
Swiatek took a lengthy medical timeout late in the second set and could be heard on courtside mics complaining about a leg issue.

But speaking after the match, the Pole blamed fatigue from a lack of match fitness. She played five singles and two mixed doubles matches in the space of a week.
“For sure, I wasn’t fresh today, but I’ll be good,” she said.
“Nothing happened really, like I was just tired. At the beginning of the tournament especially has been pretty big but, honestly, it’s all good.”
Australian Open main draw action begins on Sunday.
