The first two wildcards for the 2025 Australian Open have been awarded.
Zhang Shuai and Kasidit Samrej earned themselves a spot in the main draw after emerging victorious at the AO Asia-Pacific Wildcard Play-off.
Played in Chengdu, China, the event enables lower-ranked players from the region to secure a spot at Melbourne Park.
Shuai, a 35-year-old veteran, enjoyed 12 consecutive main draw appearances at the Australian Open before missing out in 2024.
Samrej, on the other hand, has never even played qualifying for a grand slam tournament.
