The bulk of the wildcards for the 2025 Australian Open have now been confirmed – including the qualifying wildcards.

Eight Aussies have received a spot in their home grand slam main draw – five women and three men.

Lleyton Hewitt’s son Cruz and two-time grand slam winner Simona Halep have also received wildcards for the qualifying tournament among nine other men and women.

Experienced pair Daria Saville and Ajla Tomljanovic have struggled with injury in recent years but will feature at Melbourne Park through main draw wildcards after missing the entry list ranking cut-off.

Three young guns will also be in action, with Talia Gibson, Maya Joint and Emerson Jones selected by Tennis Australia. Teenage talents Joint and Jones will be making their Australian Open debuts.

On the men’s side, Tristan Schoolkate, Li Tu and James McCabe have grabbed the homegrown wildcards.

Swiss veteran and former Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka will join them.

Zhang Shuai and Kasidit Samrej also earned themselves a spot in the main draw after emerging victorious at the AO Asia-Pacific Wildcard Play-off.

Played in Chengdu, China, the event enables lower-ranked players from the region to secure a spot at Melbourne Park.

Five of the 16 total wildcards are still yet to be awarded ahead of the upcoming Australian Open.

A reciprocal arrangement between Tennis Australia and the French Tennis Federation typically sees a pair of French players receive main draw tickets, while there is also a US wildcard exchange.
