A surfing bible is offering three lucky grommets the chance to dump their nine-to-five for board meetings among the country’s most tantalising waves.

Billed by Australian publication Tracks Magazine as the “best job in the world”, the chosen few will paddle off on a surfing road trip along Australia’s coastline chasing big swells, competitions and live music — and get paid to do it.

Successful candidates will live on a converted bus, stay in surf shacks and work just two weeks out of every month.

Remuneration includes $50,000 each, plus expenses — but there is actual work to be done.

While you don’t have to be Kelly Slater to land the role, you will need to know your way around social media and be able to capture your love of the sport as a video journalist.

“We’ll foot the bill for pretty much everything as you travel up and down the coast attending major surfing events and music festivals, eat and drink at the best pubs and great local restaurants and capture everything in between,” Tracks editor-in-chief Luke Kennedy said.

A TV crew will trail the trio, documenting their every move for a new reality show promoting Australia as a must-visit destination for surfers.

The opportunity is part of a major push by Tracks to reinvigorate itself and return to “its 1970 counterculture roots”.

It is also offering surfers the chance to own a slice of the prolifically published magazine through a crowdfunding investment campaign.

An Airbnb-style platform featuring beach accommodation and tailored for surfers isn’t too far off either.

“For over 50 years, Tracks Magazine has been the undisputed voice of surfing across the world,” sport icon and Tracks ambassador Wayne Bartholomew said.

“Landing a Tracks cover was the ultimate dream for any pro surfer, so I’m excited three young grommets will have the chance to experience that same feeling with the reinvigoration of the magazine.”

The lucky surfers will be announced in July. More information on the opportunity can be found on the Tracks Magazine website.
