The Australian cricket team’s journey to the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA has been nothing less than a bumpy ride. Several key players, including skipper Pat Cummins, encountered travel disruptions that delayed their arrival to the Caribbean.

According to cricket.com.au, Cummins had a nightmarish experience after his wife revealed that not only did his trip from Sydney take over two days, but his luggage also went missing somewhere along the way. Thankfully, he has since been reunited with his lost belongings. Cummins had returned to Australia for a pitstop at home after the IPL final.

Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell were also affected by flight delays. After returning home from India, they had to make unexpected layovers in Los Angeles and Miami before finally reaching Barbados.

It is now understood that the above crisis led to Australia utilizing its support staff during the warm-up match before the T20 World Cup. With Mitchell Marsh leading, the team had just 9 players available and required assistance from their coaching staff to complete their bowling innings. Australia’s chief selector and ex-captain George Bailey, head coach Andrew McDonald, fielding coach Andre Borovec, and batting coach Brad Hodge all took to the field for the Australian team.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Australian squad has been enjoying their time off away from the field by taking a quality sunset cruise.

“A lot of the boys are coming off a long time in India in the IPL, maybe 48 hours at home for a couple of them, so to do something like that is so refreshing,” Agar told reporters.

“I think mentally once you’ve done that, you go into the sessions ready to go, because you’ve already enjoyed what the Caribbean has to offer.

“We were sitting on the roof of the catamaran as we were coming back last night and ‘Stoin’ (Stoinis) actually mentioned that, ‘I don’t know if many other teams would be like this’.

“You’ve got all the boys sitting on the roof watching the sun go down, having a drink together, having a genuinely good time and enjoying each other’s company.

“It was pretty easy to forget you’re here for a World Cup.”
