A new-look Nissan Navara has debuted in Thailand with slicker technology and softer cabin materials.
Unfortunately, the refined Navara isn’t coming to Australia, with a Nissan spokesperson telling CarsGuide it is a Thai-market exclusive.
The centrepiece is a new 9.0-inch multimedia unit in the dashboard’s centre, which features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. You can see the difference in images shared by Thai outlet Autofun.
The unit is lifted directly from the Thai-market Terra, though it is the same found in Australian-delivered Pathfinder large SUVs and other models.
The screen’s bezel incorporates various menu shortcut buttons more neatly below the touchscreen, rather than having them scattered around the outside as in current Australian Navaras.

There’s also new soft touch material on the dash fascia with contrast orange stitching on the PRO-4X, marking a big improvement over the current car’s scratchy plastic item.
Aside from these small interior changes, the Thai market models get upgraded to the Euro 5 compliant 140kW/450Nm 2.3-litre twin-turbo diesel four-cylinder with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) in Thailand, a feature already well established for Australian Navaras.

It continues in various trim levels with 4×2 and 4×4 options, and the option of single, ‘King’ and dual-cab body styles.
The Thai Navara gets a small price increase of around $450-$550, depending on trim, with the Pro-4X 4×4 listing at 1,175,000 Thai Baht, equivalent to $50,965 Australian. That’s a $500 increase on the Pro-4X manual’s $59,405 price in Australia.
Nissan recently announced a limited ST-based Navara Black Edition of the current model. An all-new Navara is expected soon based on the fresh Mitsubishi Triton’s parts kit, though other details are scarce.
