The men’s basketball tournament at Paris 2024 will involve 12 teams separated into three groups of four. Australia, ranked fifth, are in Group A with Canada (No. 7), Greece (No. 14) and Spain (No. 2).
Defending champions USA (world No. 1) are in Group C while Tokyo runners-up and hosts France (world No. 14) are in Group B.
Following round-robin matches, the top two from each group and the two best third-placed sides will make the quarter-finals, which will be played on August 6.
The semi-finals will take place on August 8 and the two medal playoffs – bronze medal match and gold medal match – will be held on August 10.
Patty Mills will captain the 12-member Australian men’s basketball team at Paris 2024.
Patty Mills and Joe Ingles are set to become five-time Olympians in Paris. NBA stars Josh Giddey, Jock Landale, Dyson Daniels, Dante Exum and Duop Reath are also in the Boomers’ Olympic squad.
