The weather at Royal Troon on Saturday has been absolutely rancid. By the time the leaders tee’d off, the rain was falling at a clip of over a quarter inch an hour, soaking gloves, thickening rough and turning the pot bunkers into quicksand. Most players on the course looked like they couldn’t wait to be off it, and after seeing the respite that awaits them in the Players Clubhouse, we can’t say we blame them. Check it out.

Ping pong, darts and bean-bag chairs, oh my! The R&A went all out with their player-only accommodations at Royal Troon this year, and given the forecast this week, we’re guessing most of the field is happy they did. There’s a café, a game room and even a “mindfulness area.” There’s also an on-site barber shop, cleverly titled “Don’t Miss the Cut.” Given the trim Jon Rahm got earlier in the week, we’re guessing most players steered clear of that hazard, though.

Other amenities include a café, bag storage (try not to drool too much, equipment nerds) and a “Champions Corner” reserved for former Champion Golfers of the Year. Mudders like Shane Lowry—who claimed his Claret Jug at Royal Portrush in even worse conditions—will have little use for the creature comforts, but for the pros without the Irishman’s, er, extra insulation, the confines look like a welcome port in the storm.
