Collin Morikawa has a special bag for the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Here’s why that’s meaningful – Australian Golf Digest

During the FedEx Cup Playoffs you simply can’t get away from the carrier’s signage. That’s fair considering the investment the company has made to the season-ending stretch, what with $100 million set to be handed out, including $25 million to the eventual FedEx Cup champion. This year, however, it goes a step further and includes two-time major winner Collin Morikawa and his TaylorMade staff bag.

In a collaboration that includes TaylorMade, FedEx, the PGA Tour and Ceeze Creative Studios, Morikawa’s clubs for the three events will be housed in a bag that was created utilizing soon-to-be-recycled FedEx package and upcycled material. TaylorMade golf gloves were also used to construct multiple panels of the bag.

Asked about the bag, Morikawa had plenty to say.

Yeah, really special bag,” said Morikawa. “Really cool. I think obviously FedEx kind of did a little collab with TaylorMade, one of my sponsors, and created this bag special for the playoffs. It’s obviously very meaningful, not only how it’s built—you have recycled gloves on the side, recycled materials. … But I think what this represents is really just an accumulation of the entire season. I think what’s so special about this bag and the next three weeks I’m going to be using it is that FedEx is going to be donating $1,000 per birdie I make for the playoffs, and that’s very, very special. They’re going to be donating to St. Jude, obviously the St. Jude Championship this week. Just a lot of special ties going in.” Morikawa’s wife, Katherine, also is all in on St. Jude’s as she is running the upcoming New York City Marathon with St. Jude as her charitable beneficiary as well.

Although there is no rooting in the press box, here’s to plenty of birdies and miles run for the Morikawa family.
