Cricket Australia Partners with UNICEF to Promote Gender Equality – Ministry of Sport

Cricket Australia has entered into a three-year partnership with UNICEF Australia, focusing on advancing gender equality through UNICEF’s ‘Until Every Girl Can Play’ campaign. This collaboration aligns with Cricket Australia’s commitment to social impact and will raise awareness for the millions of girls worldwide who lack access to basic rights, including education, healthcare, and safety.

The partnership will be prominent throughout the upcoming summer of cricket, with special activations taking place during major events such as the CommBank Women’s Ashes Day-Night Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). A key initiative of the campaign, ‘The Appeal Appeal’, will symbolically turn every appeal made during the match into a moment for gender equality, engaging audiences in a call for change.

Additionally, UNICEF Australia will benefit from the proceeds of entry to day five of the NRMA Insurance West Test, providing further financial support for their ongoing initiatives. Australian players will also have the opportunity to see firsthand the impact of UNICEF’s work, with visits planned to cricket-loving communities during international tours.

This partnership highlights the increasing role of sports in driving social change and is an important step towards fostering a more equitable future for girls globally. Through this collaboration, Cricket Australia and UNICEF are positioning themselves as leaders in promoting social responsibility and gender equality, using cricket’s global platform to amplify these vital issues.
