But to emulate the achievement his father reached as a 15-year-old in 1997, Hewitt must first defeat former world no.16 Nikoloz Basilashvili.
If the prodigious follows that up with two more victories, he will make his debut in the main draw of a grand slam tournament.

10:30am: Cruz Hewitt will be on Court 3 once the match between Solana Sierra and Lucija Ciric Bagaric is complete. It’s currently 2-2 in the first set.
10:00am (local time): Play has started on Day 2 of Australian Open qualifying. Cruz Hewitt vs. Nikoloz Basilashvili is second up on Court 3.
In Australian Open qualifying first round, Hewitt will take on former world no.16 Nikolaz Basilashvili on Tuesday, January 7 on Court 3.
The 32-year-old Georgian is now ranked 208 after struggling with injuries and form since 2022.
Basilashvili has won five ATP titles, including three ATP 500 wins at the German Open, China Open and European Open.
He also reached a Masters 1000 final at Indian Wells in 2021, where he was defeated by Cameron Norrie in three sets.
Basilashvili has reached the fourth round of the US Open (2018) and the third round of the other three majors.
