De Minaur reaches third straight Grand Slam quarterfinal

De Minaur is the first Australian in almost 20 years to advance to three consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinals, an accomplishment last achieved by Hewitt between 2004-05.

And he is one of just seven men – after Jannik Sinner, Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev and Taylor Fritz – to reach the quarterfinal stage at three Grand Slam tournaments in 2024.

Reigning Australian Open champion Sinner is the only one of the group to appear at the quarterfinal stage at all four majors this season.

“It’s always nice to achieve milestones,” De Minaur said.

“[But] I don’t make too much fuss. I just put my head down and work on my craft. I’m excited that the results are showing.”

To advance to his maiden Grand Slam semifinal, De Minaur will need to defeat rising British star Jack Draper.

The 22-year-old Draper is enjoying a career-best run at Grand Slam level and has progressed to the quarterfinals without conceding a set.
