A who’s who of the most exciting young footballers in the country, including Derry defender Eoin McEvoy, were put through their paces in Dublin last weekend as AFL scouts continue to tap into new talent from the GAA.

Two-time Ulster SFC winner McEvoy is much coveted by a handful AFL clubs after impressing in trials in the capital alongside a host of other promising players, including another Oak Leafer in U-20 star Ruairi Forbes.

There is a lot of water to go under the bridge before the possibility of McEvoy, 21, signing on the dotted line with any AFL club but needless to say, losing the Magherafelt clubman for the 2025 season and beyond would be a huge blow to Derry, who are currently without a manager.
