The fifth and final ODI between England and Australia is set to get underway on September 29 at the County Ground, Bristol. Australia won the first two matches of the series by seven wickets and 68 runs, before England hit back in Durham with a 46-run win on the DLS method.

The hosts then managed to level the series with a win in the fourth ODI. In a rain-shortened 39-overs-a-side match, they thrashed Australia by 186 runs to set up an exciting finale. But will the weather allow the series decider to take place?

The match will begin at 11am local time, and it seems likely that the weather will play a spoilsport yet again in the series.

BBC Weather predicts “light rain showers and a fresh breeze from 2 pm to 4 pm with a chance of precipitation ranging from 66 to 70 per cent. The forecast also predicts “gutsy winds and rain” from 5 pm to 9 pm with a 70 per cent chance of precipitation.

According to the AccuWeather forecast, it is going to be cloudy in Bristol with periods of rain in the afternoon. As per the prediction, there will be 4.5 hours of rain with an 89 per cent probability of precipitation in the afternoon.

Weather.com has more ominous predictions with an overall 85 per cent chance of precipitation and 90 per cent chance of rain on a “rainy and windy” Sunday in Bristol. Chances of rain towards the start of the match are actually quite low, but they increase throughout the day, getting higher in the evening hours.

According to weather forecasts, the possibility of a third match in a row being affected by rain looms large.
