Australia are seeded sixth, while Canada and the Dutch team are the second and third seeds, respectively. Kenya are billed seventh. Top seeds Germany are in Pool A with hosts Japan, Austria and Brazil.
After single-legged round-robin matches, the top two teams from each Pool will advance to the semi-finals. The 3×3 basketball tournament winner will obtain the quota for Paris 2024.
Gangurrus women will take on the Dutch side in their opening game on Friday before facing Kenya and Canada on Saturday. The semi-finals and final will be played on Sunday.
Since Australia are not eligible to participate in the final Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Hungary, the Utsunomiya meet will be the Gangurrus’ final opportunity to earn a ticket to the 2024 Paris Summer Games.
