White Marlin, a former Melbourne Cup favourite, has begun his racetrack comeback.

After injuring both tendons in August last year, he has been in pre-training for just under a month at the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable.

Early signs are positive, but a full return to work will take time.

The eye-catching Irish import gained attention by winning the Macca’s Run on Melbourne Cup Day in 2022 and the Group 3 Easter Cup in 2023.

He last raced in May 2023, finishing second in the Andrew Ramsden Stakes.

With eight starts, six wins, and no finishes further back than second, his record is impressive.

Before returning to racing, White Marlin needs to provide an ultrasound to Racing Victoria stewards to lift the embargo.
