Gold Coast track damage sparks investigation

A section of the newly renovated Gold Coast track has been damaged ahead of this weekend’s key races and the Magic Millions Carnival.

The affected area, measuring 25m x 10m at the 500m mark, is believed to have suffered chemical damage, with foul play by anti-racing activists being investigated.

Racing Queensland and the Gold Coast Turf Club are conducting safety tests, including gallops over the area, and have implemented full-time security.

Despite the incident, Saturday’s $3M Magic Millions Sunlight Slot Race and $500,000 The Wave are expected to proceed as planned, with no disruptions anticipated for the Magic Millions Carnival.
