LIV Golf chief executive officer Greg Norman has revealed that the league will soon have a new leader at the helm, signalling a significant transition as it gears up for an ambitious 2025 season.

Speaking exclusively to Andrew Chernoff of WISH-TV in Indianapolis, the Aussie legend reflected on his tenure and the league’s progress during a visit to Chatham Hills Golf Club in Westfield, Indiana, where LIV Golf Indianapolis will be held from August 15-17, 2025.

Norman, who has been CEO since the league’s inception in 2021, addressed reports that former Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment CEO Scott O’Neil is set to take over the role. When asked if he hoped to remain CEO, Norman responded candidly: “Is there going to be a new CEO? Yes. There will be a new CEO. I’m fine with that. Will I always have a place and be involved with LIV to some capacity? Yes.”

Under Norman’s leadership, LIV Golf has disrupted the golf world, igniting controversy while also fuelling innovation. The league’s rivalry with the PGA Tour has reshaped the professional golf landscape, with Norman emphasising the benefits of competition.

“Everybody was lambasting us,” he said, “and now all of a sudden, everybody’s trying to follow us. How good has this been for the game of golf?”

The upcoming Indianapolis event marks LIV Golf’s first tournament in Indiana and is one of three US stops on the 2025 schedule, alongside Dallas in June and Chicago in August. Norman hailed the Chatham Hills course as a perfect fit, calling the decision to play there a “no-brainer.”

Despite headwinds, Norman believes LIV Golf has finally found its footing in the US market.

“People are understanding the product,” he said. “We want to co-exist within the golf ecosystem, and our product has a tremendous economic impact on the area.”

As LIV Golf embarks on its next chapter, Norman remains proud of his role in shaping its transformative journey.

“The game is in a much better place today than it was a year ago,” he said.
