CCTV footage shows the woman hiding out in a kebab shop as staff attempt to comfort her.

A man is then seen walking into the shop as the women gestures that the man is her attacker.

The alleged attacker lingers before approaching the woman and patting her on the back.

A diner is then seen confronting the man before he flees the shop.

The police then arrive a few minutes later, as staff and diners tend to the woman.

The owner told 7NEWS the woman could not stop crying, and her dress was damaged.

The woman had told police she had been raped by five men.

It’s understood the woman was planning to travel back to Australia, but is now remaining in Paris to help police with their investigation.

Meanwhile, a Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesperson told 7NEWS the Australian Embassy in Paris is “making urgent enquiries with French authorities following reports of an Australian citizen assaulted in Paris”.

“The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade stands ready to provide consular assistance,” it said.
