Not to jinx anything, but it seems like we might actually witness ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ before the world ends. Nobody would have guessed as much a decade ago, with the Sandler-ssance still years off and the film industry amidst its most radical disruption since “the talkies,” but here we are, living in the bold, bright future.
In May, Netflix re-confirmed what Shooter McGavin actor Christopher McDonald spoiled a few weeks earlier, officially announcing the return of America’s favorite putting-hating, Bruins-loving rage-a-holic. While we still don’t know the release date or plot details of the sequel to the classic 1996 golf comedy, we do know that you—yes, lowly old YOU—could be in it.

According to NJ.com, the production is currently seeking Jersey locals to work as extras in the upcoming feature film, which will shoot in Bergen, Essex, Monmouth, Morris and Somerset counties between September and November of this year. Grant Wilfey Casting will be holding an open casting call on August 20th at the Hyatt Regency Morristown Plaza Ballroom between 1 and 8 p.m. No previous acting or background experience is required. There’s a non-SAG stipend of $176 per 10 hours of work, or $216 for 8 hours with SAG-AFTRA membership.
