Wire-to-wire winners are rare on the PGA Tour. So are golfers playing on sponsor’s exemptions who go on to win a title. Wesley Bryan then is particularly uncommon territory as he takes a one-shot lead entering Sunday’s final round of the Corales Puntacana Championship.
The 34-year-old tied the tournament’s low 54-hole scoring (17-under 199), which is also the lowest 54-hole score he’s ever posted in 114 PGA Tour starts. Should he hold off those behind him—Kevin Tway is one back, Taylor Pendrith and Justin Lower two off the pace, and Billy Horschel starts three shots behind Bryan—it would follow an interesting trend at the event that’s held at the Corales course at Puntacana Resort in the Dominican Republic. Five of the six previous winners have been in their 30s.
The victory would earn Bryan a $720,000 prize money payout from an overall purse of $4 million. Here’s the prize money payout for each golfer. We’ll update this after the tournament’s end with individual names and prize money payouts.
