A TransLink officer has reportedly been stabbed by a young man in a busy shopping centre.
The incident occurred shortly before 1pm on Wednesday in the Robina Town Centre, southwest of Surfers Paradise in Queensland.
Paramedics treated the 60-year-old transport officer – who was monitoring fare evasion – for a non-life threatening stab wound to the hip.
He was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
The attacker is believed to have fled the scene shortly after.
It’s understood the incident occurred inside a staff-only corridor between the shopping centre and the car park, the Courier Mail reported.
Queensland Police confirmed they are investigating and a crime scene has been established.
It’s understood detectives will look at whether the attacker had followed the bus security worker into the corridor following an earlier disagreement.
