Australia A has been dealt a massive blow ahead of the third day of their clash against India A in Mackay, with pace bowler Jordan Buckingham ruled out the match due to injury.

On Saturday morning, Cricket Australia confirmed the South Australian had sustained a suspected side strain during India A’s second innings at Great Barrier Reef Arena and would not bowl again in the match.

“Buckingham will be assessed further over the coming days and an update on his injury will be provided in due course,” CA said in a statement.

India was 2-208 overnight, leading by 120 runs, with Sai Sudharsan (96*) and Devdutt Padikkal (80*) unbeaten in the middle.

The match is scheduled to resume at 11am AEDT.
