As comms and marketing agency Hotwire Australia continues its commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB), it has unveiled a new series bringing voices from technology and marketing together to discuss key topics shaping the industry.
The first instalment of ‘Flip The Focus’ comes in the form of a podcast series, hosted by Hotwire’s creative director, Jen Dobbie, and will feature voices of female funders, founders and leaders.
“‘Flip the Focus’ will provide us with multiple opportunities to unpack some important conversations in tech,” said Dobbie.
“With our first podcast launching around this year’s International Women’s Day, it was a great opportunity to hear from some of the most extraordinary female voices in the industry.

“Lasting change won’t happen if we only act one day a year. This first ‘Flip the Focus’ series is about providing clear information and compelling perspectives to inspire action. It’s not about quieting anyone’s voice,” she continued. “It’s not about less funding for male-led tech businesses; it’s about levelling the playing field for everyone.
“We want to amplify voices who are traditionally less likely to be heard; female funders, founders, and fearless leaders in tech.”
The first episode sees Dobbie and Noga Edelstein, venture partner at Black Nova VC and NSW Government adviser, speak on new environments for investment, the role gender plays in funding success, and what society could be doing to help amplify female voices in the Australian tech space.
The second episode features Claire Warning, founder of AI-powered web app Gether, who chats to Dobbie about the complexities of motherhood, invisible labour, and how to get into tech entrepreneurship as the industry continues to grow.
“Hotwire Australia’s ‘Flip the Focus’ series is our way of amplifying the many conversations happening right now in the communications and tech industries. We hope our first series will go a long way to shining a light on some incredible women in tech who are bravely championing change – whether that’s through funding female-led businesses, starting their own business or showing great leadership,” said Melissa Cullen, managing director of communications APAC, at Hotwire.
“Following our first series, we hope to bring to the fore some of the other hot topics impacting the communications and tech industries.”
