WA Ombudsman Chris Field travelled the world on the taxpayer without anyone in government or the public service raising any concerns about the bills until they were questioned by The West Australian, the Corruption and Crime Commission has heard.
The CCC on Wednesday was taken through “highly atypical and expansive” quarterly travel filings with the Department of Premier and Cabinet showing Mr Field disclosed all the jet-setting undertaken in support of his roles with the International Ombudsman Institute going back to 2016 and never hid that most of the cost was being picked up by WA taxpayers.
