Georgia Voll has sent another timely reminder to Australian selectors ahead of the women’s Ashes, scoring a half-century against England.
The young gun opened the batting for the Governor General’s XI on Thursday in rainy conditions at North Sydney Oval, blasting 11 boundaries to score 57 from 42 balls.
The hosts were 8-183 when rain halted proceedings, before play was abandoned before the visitors were able to get to the crease.

Voll has been in red-hot form in recent months and while there’s no certainty of her playing every match in the multi-format series, she is giving selectors food for thought.
Speaking to media after her knock, the 21-year-old was confident and believes she has what it takes to help the Aussies retain the trophy against their fierce rivals.
“Obviously pretty disappointing with the rain around … but to get out there and spend some time in the middle was nice,” Voll said.
“It’s just about every opportunity I get, do the best I can. I’m just learning off the girls as much as I can and soaking up the experience.
“I think I’m ready. I’ve been playing domestic cricket for four or five years. I’m obviously still pretty young, so I’ve still got a lot of things to learn, but I think my game’s ready.
“If I’m called upon, then I think I can do a good job.”
Voll scored a century in just her second international appearance last month, finishing with 101 from 87 deliveries against India.
The women’s Ashes kicks off with the first of three ODIs on Sunday morning.
