Five rising stars to watch out for during Australia Prime Minister’s XI match against India

1. Sam Konstas

At just 19, Konstas who is from New South Wales is touted as one of the future stars of Australian cricket.

He was also reportedly in the reckoning for being picked in the Test side for the Border Gavaskar Trophy but having played just 10 FC games, it was a move probably too early for him.

The 2005-born also scored an impressive 73* against India A prior to the series as he took his team to a victory alongside Nathan McSweeney.

Sheffield Shield (FC) record: Matches – 10, Innings – 17, Runs – 630, Average – 39.37, 50/100 – 2/2

Goodwin is a gritty, young left-hander, who is also the son of former Zimbabwe international Murray Goodwin.

3. Aidan O’Connor

The 18-year-old all-rounder from Tasmania was a part of Australia’s U19 team that travelled to India for an U19 tour and played 2 One Day games and two youth Tests.

He was also Australia’s best bowler with his medium-pace bowling in the tour after Vishwa Ramkumar and also took a 4/27 in Chennai after 61(70) in the first innings.

4. Mahli Beardman

The U19 World Cup winning teenager, Beardman was the player of the match in the final against India in February 2024 where Australia won by 79 runs and he took 3/15.

He dismantled 3 out of India’s top 4 batters including the wicket of young sensation, Musheer Khan.

Beardman clocked over 140 kmph in his recent List A debut for Western Australia, where he took 1/42 and dismissed the New South Wales veteran, Moises Henriques.

The young speedster will feature for the Perth Scorchers in the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) 2024/25 season.

5. Jack Clayton

A rather experienced feature in the Prime Minister’s XI will be the left-handed batter, Jack Clayton who has scored close to 1500 first class runs in 28 matches including 3 centuries and 9 fifties.

The 25-year-old from Queensland has so far scored good knocks of 85(194) against Western Australia and a gritty 91(164) against the in-form South Australia while chasing down 359 runs during the ongoing Sheffield Shield competition.
