India and Australia will square off in the first Test of the 2024-2025 Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Optus Stadium in Perth. Opened in January 2018, the stadium boasts a seating capacity of approximately 61,000.
The pitch of the Optus Stadium is known for its fast pace and extra bounce as compared to the other Australian pitches, quite similar to the pitch of the old WACA ground in Perth.
The Australian fast bowlers have enjoyed bowling at this ground because of the assistance they get from the pitch in terms of pace and bounce. In December 2018, the Optus Stadium played host to its first international match when India faced Australia in a Test Match.
Despite skipper Virat Kohli‘s fighting century, India ended up losing that game. That was India’s only international match they have played at the Optus Stadium so far. Since 2018, all the international matches in Perth have been played at the Optus Stadium.
