Patty Mills is one of Australia’s most recognisable basketballers, having a renowned career in the NBA where he has won championships, as well as being a key player for the Australian Boomers side for over a decade.
Having played at four Olympics campaigns, he was given the honour of being Australia’s flag bearer at the 2020 Games in Tokyo for the Opening Ceremony.
But will he be back for the 2024 Games in Paris? The Sporting News finds out.
MORE: Boomers record at the Olympics
Yes, it has been confirmed Patty Mills will be playing for the Boomers at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Whilst the 35-year-old is in the twilight of his career, he is still seen as a key part of the Boomers side, even if his game-time is less and it is as a leading veteran player.
He also tends to rise massively to the occasion for the Olympics, with his performance in the 2020 bronze medal match being truly outstanding.
He scored 42 points against Slovenia to help Australia win their first ever medal at the men’s basketball tournament at the Olympics.
Matisse Thybulle has been a shock omission from the final 12-man Boomers roster for the men’s basketball competition at the Paris Olympics.
The 27-year-old, who was part of the side that won the bronze medal in Tokyo, was expected to be named in the side due to his defensive ability and NBA experience, however coach Brian Goorjian decided to cut him and other in-form players including Chris Goulding and Xavier Cooks.
