Visas for skilled migrants across hundreds of new occupations are set to be fast-tracked in a bid to boost the economy.
Eligible jobs for the visa include yoga instructors, flight attendants, journalists, beauty therapists and goat farmers.
Project managers, building inspectors, bricklayers and carpenters are among the trades listed to help the embattled construction industry.
The federal government published the full list of 456 trades covered under the CSOL.
All of the trades will be added to the Skills in Demand visa, which offers clear pathways for migrant workers to address labour shortages in Australia.
“The government is determined to tackle the skills shortage, especially in the construction sector,” said Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Immigration and Multicultural Affairs Tony Burke.
“This is an important step to attract qualified workers to help build more homes.”
Minister for Skills and Training Andrew Giles echoed the need for Australia to attract more construction workers to address the housing shortage.
“The Core Skills Occupation List plays an important role in ensuring Australia has a targeted skilled migration system that addresses genuine skills gaps in the economy, and works in conjunction with our work to train Australians,” he said.
The visa reforms are set to come into effect from December 7.
