Jamie Kah will reunite with The Map in Wednesday’s Group 3 Geelong Cup (2400m), using the race as a final lead-up to next month’s Melbourne Cup. Kah, who has previously ridden The Map to two wins and a narrow placing in the Adelaide Cup, has opted to ride Point King in the Melbourne Cup, leaving The Map’s rider for the big race still undecided.

Trainer Dan Clarken is confident that The Map is on track to peak in time for the Melbourne Cup, despite being unplaced in her three spring runs. “I think the Geelong Cup will just bring her right to her top, she’ll be cherry ripe on Cup Day,” Clarken said.

The Map, who earned her Melbourne Cup ballot exemption with a victory in the Andrew Ramsden Stakes, will stay in Victoria after the Geelong Cup to meet vet protocols and undergo CT scans. She is currently listed at $34 in betting sites Melbourne Cup odds.
