Long before Bryson DeChambeau took social media by storm for making a hole-in-one over his house, John Daly went viral for hitting a golf ball over a highway. And on Wednesday, the golf folk hero decided to re-enact that to ring in the New Year.
While out promoting his Good Boy Vodka, Daly did a different kind of drinking and driving in a video that’s making the rounds. In it, the 58-year-old—cigarette in mouth, of course—tees up a golf ball on a sidewalk. Then after getting the all clear—”Hang on, one more car!”—he grips it and rips it. Have a look:

Well, that’s certainly one way to celebrate.
Commenters wondered where Daly’s ball landed, but the poster said that “It’s the ocean and that’s an old building that isn’t used anymore.” OK then.
It appears Daly was at The Bridge Lounge in Tarpon Springs, Florida. Which makes sense considering the two-time major champ appeared on an episode of “Bar Rescue” for that spot a few years back.
But commenters were even more concerned over the onlooker JD (mistakenly?) leaves hanging for a high-five. In case you missed that, watch again. Because it’s pretty funny. And very awkward.
Tough scene. Anyway, it may be a new year, but it’s the same old John Daly. Happy 2025, everyone. In particular, to that other dude. Hopefully, he eventually got that high-five.
