John Stewart has selected Ciaron Maher as the third and final trainer for Resolute Racing’s Australian yearlings, joining Chris Waller and Bjorn Baker.
The American racing mogul garnered attention with his high-profile attempt to acquire Winx’s daughter at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, though he was ultimately outbid by Debbie Kepitis, who paid $10 million.
Nevertheless, Stewart made significant purchases at the auction, acquiring six other yearlings to race in Australia. He mentioned that the selection of their trainers would be finalised later.
Earlier this week, Chris Waller and Bjorn Baker were revealed as the first trainers. Maher has now been added to the roster after meeting Stewart at the Kentucky Derby.
Stewart announced the decision on Twitter on Sunday morning but mistakenly posted a picture of Maher’s brother, Declan.
