Emma Raducanu will be back in the top 10 of the WTA Rankings by the end of the 2025 season.
That is the view of esteemed coach Rick Macci with the American also stating he is confident she will win more Grand Slams.
Nearly two years after reaching a career-high of No 10 on the back of her 2021 US Open title run, Raducanu finds herself sitting at No 303 in the rankings.
And while her alarming slide has come on the back of an injury-disrupted 2023 campaign, Raducanu’s form since her fairytale run at Flushing Meadows has been far from inspiring.
Her win loss-record since the start of the 2022 season is 29-29 and she hasn’t managed to win more than three matches in a row since her title run in New York.
Macci – who worked with the true greats of the game including Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Jennifer Capriati and Andy Roddick – is confident it is only a matter of time before the 21-year-old finds form again and climbs back up the rankings.
In an interview with Sportskeeda he said: “You don’t lose the skill, but you kind of lose the will and I don’t know what’s in her head. But, when she plays every point like it’s her last breath and she’s the ultimate competitor, I can see.
“I said it before she’ll be top 10 in the world by the end of 2025. Once you get in that top 10, you can beat anybody anytime anywhere and I really believe that she can win Grand Slams again.”
After undergoing surgery on both her wrists and her one ankle in May 2023, Raducanu made her comeback at the beginning of the year and she has a 5-5 record on the WTA Tour this year.
However, her overall record in 2024 stands at 7-5 as she got two confidence boosting wins at the Billie Jean King Cup recently with her victories helping Great Britain to qualify for the Finals with a 3-1 win over France.
Macci added: “Well, first off, I am a big fan because I think anybody that qualifies for a Grand Slam and then wins a Grand Slam without losing a set. You don’t lose talent and you don’t lose ability.
“But, at the end of the day, everything changed around her in the blink of an eye. But absolutely, it takes a long time to get your confidence back.”
