If you live anywhere in the Minnesota area and think you just heard a screech, there’s no reason for alarm. That’s just Luke Clanton’s sister doing everything she can to motivate her brother.
The Florida State University rising junior and amateur is in the midst of his fourth start on tour. He’s made every cut thus far, with two top tens and a runner-up at the John Deere Classic, and this par save following three straight birdies at TPC Twin Cities had the crowd energized. And by crowd, we mean his die-hard sister.

“Yeah!! Let’s gooooo!” his sister Abby yelled to the amusement of the broadcast team. She even added a strongman pose for good measure and got a grin from her brother.
The announcers loved the exuberance. After catching their breath, one went on to state, “That is Luke’s sister. She is also the president of the Luke Clanton Fan Club.” Luke has two sisters Ray and Abby, who both sacrificed so that their brother could make it this far.
“Abby was one of the best soccer players growing up,” Luke told the PGA Tour. “She was unbelievable, and she didn’t go to certain colleges because of me. She wanted to be a zoologist and all these things, and Ray, same way. I was young and they were already saying, ‘I don’t want to travel as much, save money for him,’ because we were growing up with not much money.
“We’re all across the country, but we all still connect every single day.”
At three under over his opening seven holes, Clanton is in a good place for the rest of the 3M Open. We can only imagine the shrieks and cheers on the way if Clanton hits a big putt on Sunday. If it’s a tournament winner, there’ll be a good deal of chaos in the Gopher State: Car alarms blaring, dogs running for the hills, busted eardrums galore.
