Lexi Thompson rings in 2025 by getting engaged – Australian Golf Digest

Lexi Thompson has started the New Year with exciting personal news: She’s engaged!

Thompson announced the big moment from Jan. 1 on Instagram, posting first a photo of boyfriend, Max Provost, on one knee and then a picture of the two holding hands, displaying the engagement ring. The couple were in Whistler, British Columbia; cheers to Provost for choosing the trip as the right time to propose to Thompson, because now the couple will forever have engagement photos featuring epic, snow-covered mountain ranges in the background.

Thompson has kept her relationship with Provost mostly private although he has been seen with her at LPGA events. The two were photographed on the Solheim Cup red carpet in September, and most recently he caddied for her at the Hero World Challenge pro-am in December.

The engagement comes at a time of change in Thompson’s life. Earlier in 2024, she announced she was retiring from full-time play on the LPGA Tour at the end of the season. In talking about why she’s cutting back her schedule at only age 29, she said she wanted to see what else there is to life. When you qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open as a 12-year-old and turn pro at 15, your life becomes predominantly about golf. When she announced her retirement at the U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster C.C., she said she plans on working on her Lexi Fitness app and focusing on family.

“I hope to have a family one day. And just enjoy every experience of that and be there for every single moment. That’s the most important for me,” Thompson said. “I’ve only known golf as my life. So it’s nice to branch out and be able to enjoy other things.”
