Prasidh’s first ball bounces sharply to Steve Smith who just manages to defend it.

The second ball is hit to square leg for no run.

The next three balls are dots, either defended or left by Smith.

And the final ball is hit to mid-wicket for no run.

12th over – Welcome Beau Webster

Beau Webster has one ball to face in this over. His first ball in Test cricket. Mohammed Siraj has taken two in an over.

Siraj bowls straight and the ball clips Webster’s pad for no run.

Travis Head is out.

He gets squared up and Siraj draws the edge.

A regulation slip catch is taken by KL Rahul.

India is on fire and Australia is on the rope.

Head gone for 4.

12th over continues – Travis Head is batting

Travis Head makes his way to the crease.

He scored 0 and 1 in Melbourne.

The first ball he faces from Siraj is down leg side for no run.

FOUR. Great shot from Head. The ball was straight and swinging in, and Head flicks it through mid-wicket to the rope.

WICKET. Konstas is out

Mohammed Siraj gets Sam Konstas.

The first ball of the 12th over was an outswing that beat the bat.

His second ball is a little straighter and this time gets the outside edge.

Jaiswal takes a good catch at gully.

Konstas is out for 23.

Siraj gets rewarded for great bowling this morning.

11th over – Bumrah bowls and Konstas plays the reverse ramp

Bumrah comes into bowl.

KONSTAS PLAYS THE REVERSE RAMP. He connects and it goes to third man for four runs.

Bumrah bowls back of a length, outside off and Konstas leaves it.

Bumrah bowls and Konstas goes for a big swing. The ball bounced sharply and hit Konstas in the shoulder.

Konstas charges and does not time it well, but gets it wide of mid-off for a single.

Smith faces Bumrah and defends a straight ball.

FOUR BYES. Bumrah tried to bowl at Smith’s hip with a leg slip in place. But Bumrah gets it wrong, it goes past the batter and keeper and to the rope.

10th over – Siraj continues

Siraj bowls to Konstas who defends into the off side for no run.

Another ball outside off is left by Konstas.

A straight ball from Siraj is defended by Konstas on the front foot. And then again as Siraj is really targeting off stump.

Konstas gets a single to fine leg as Siraj bowls too straight.

Steve Smith will face the final ball of the over. Smith punches a shorter ball to cover for no run.

9th over – Bumrah bowls and Konstas swings hard

FOUR. Konstas takes a small step and then hits a cross-bat shot past mid-off to the rope. That ball was hit with disdain.

Bumrah bowls straight and Konstas can only hit it back to the bowler.

Konstas swings, trying to hit over mid-wicket. He gets a glance on the ball and it goes to fine leg for a single.

Bumrah bowls wide of off stump to Smith and the Australian leaves.

Another ball outside off. Smith thinks about hitting then pulls out of the shot.

The final ball is fired at leg stump, clips Smith’s pads, and is collect by Pant for a dot ball.

8th over – Siraj continues and hurts his pinky

Steve Smith will face Siraj.

The first ball is left.

Runs for Smith. He plays a backfoot drive to a full ball. Weird shot, but it gets past mid-off for three runs.

Siraj is hurt. He tried to field that ball hit by Smith and it whacked his left pinky finger. OUCH. There is blood at the end of Siraj’s finger. The trainer is out there to strap it up.

NEAR MISS. Steve Smith has almost been run out. Konstas hit a ball to short fine leg and Smith ran. Konstas wanted no part and a direct hit would have dismissed Smith. Big chance missed by India.

BEATEN. Konstas goes for a drive and the late outswing from Siraj beats the bat.

Konstas charges, gets a wide ball outside off, and squeezes it to third man for a single.

Steve Smith leaves the final ball of an over that have just about everything.

7th over continues – Steve Smith at the crease

Steve Smith is at the crease, facing Bumrah.

Smith leaves the first ball, and is then beaten on the outside edge. Great bowling Bumrah.

Smith gets off the mark with a single, tucking a ball off his hip to short fine leg.

Sam Konstas will face the final ball from Bumrah and defend it.

Konstas then practices a big pull shot. This is entertainment at its finest.

WICKET. Bumrah strikes as Labuschage nicks off

There is the first wicket of the morning.

It is that man Jasprit Bumrah again.

He bowls just outside off, gets a faint edge off Marnus Labuschagne’s bat and Rishabh Pant takes the catch.

Initially, the umpire said not out, but India was confident and reviewed.

There is a clear spike on snicko when the ball goes past the bat.

Labuschagne is out for 2.

7th over – Bumrah continues

Bumrah bowls back of a length and the ball bounces sharply. Labuschagne is able to get on top and defend it well.

6th over – Siraj continues

BEATEN. Siraj bowls a great line, forces Konstas to play a defensive shot, and the outswing beats the edge of the bat.

Konstas tries to punch into the leg side but miscues and the ball harmlessly trickles to mid-on for no run.

Siraj bowls outside off and Konstas shoulders arms.

Siraj goes for the in-swinger but it goes down the leg side. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant dives to stop the ball, then lands on the ball. The poor bloke cannot catch a break in this match.

Runs for Konstas as he drives past backward point for two runs.

The final ball of the over is straight and hit back to Siraj for no run.

5th over – Bumrah comes in to bowl

There is a roar amongst Indian fans in the crowd as Jasprit Bumrah, their captain, takes the ball.

Marnus Labuschagne is facing his first ball and defends on the front foot.

Marnus gets off the mark with a positive drive through the covers for two runs.

Bumrah bowls straight. Labuschagne defends and the ball trickles to gully for no run.

Marnus leaves the next ball which is shorter and wide off the off stump.

Another ball outside off stump is left. That ball was back of a length and came close to sailing over the head of wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. There is plenty of bounce in this wicket.

Bumrah attacks the stumps and Labuschagne defends to end the over.

4th over – Mohammed Siraj to bowl the first over of the day

Mohammed Siraj has the ball in his hand to begin the day.

He bowled one over last night and went for two runs.

Sam Konstas is facing.

The first ball is tucked off Konstas’s hip for two runs. Great start for Australia.

Siraj bowls outside off stump and Konstas leaves.

Konstas steps onto the front foot and defends a straight ball from Siraj. And another forward defence from Konstas.

Siraj bowls outside off, gets some away swing, and Konstas leaves.

The final ball is defended again to end the over.

The players and umpires are walking to the middle

Here we go.

With bats in hand, Sam Konstas and Marnus Labuschagne head the middle of the SCG to continue Australia’s innings.

Australia is 1-9, trailing India’s first-innings by 176 runs.

India will be hunting early wickets to apply the pressure to the hosts.

Away from Test cricket, there is BBL and a nasty collision in the outfield between Cameron Bancroft and Daniel Sams soured last night’s match between the Sydney Thunder and Perth Scorchers.

The Sydney Thunder confirmed both players had been concussed, with concerns about possible fractures. Both were conscious and talking.

We hope both men make a full recovery soon.
