A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed at a major shopping centre on Queensland‘s Gold Coast.
Emergency services were called to Australia Fair shopping centre on Marine Parade in Southport at around 12.20pm on Friday.
A man in his early 40s was treated by paramedics for a wound to his chest, and taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The incident is reported to have occurred in a public toilet near the centre’s Woolworths supermarket, reported 9News.
Another man was seen to be escorted from the scene at about 2pm.
No one was immediately taken into custody.
Sections of the shopping centre remain cordoned off as police establish a crime scene.

Another crime scene has been established at nearby Welch St, across the road from Gold Coast Aquatic Centre.
The location is across the road from the Gold Coast Show, which has drawn thousands of people to the Broadwater Parklands amid 31C temperatures.
In March this year a young woman was stabbed at the Pacific Fair shopping centre on the corner of Hooker Boulevard and Gold Coast Highway in Broadbeach.
The woman aged in her 20s, was discovered with two stab wounds.
There have also been serious incidents involving knives at shopping centres in Melbourne and Sydney, including the horrific death of six people at Westfield Bondi Junction in April.
