Matildas stars’ cheeky take on at Australian team kit

Matildas players Mackenzie Arnold and Alanna Kennedy have given an insight into the abundance of items comprising the Australian Olympic Games team kit for Paris 2024.

In a cheeky TikTok video posted to goalkeeper Arnold’s account on Monday, the Aussie team’s comic duo attempted to match the combo of their green and gold swimsuit and long pleated skirt.

The video has already racked up 10.4 million views.

The caption on the video reads: “POV: Olympic gear arrived” as the pair try on the disjointed items, the overlaid TikTok audio says: “Let’s f—ing go… I guess.”

All done in jest, the pair donned the pleated skirt which forms part of Australia’s opening ceremony uniform over the top of Speedo’s recovery bathing suit.

As the Australian athletes arrive at the Olympic Village, they are presented with bags of team kit including a reversible bucket hat and team Australia slides alongside their competition wear and opening ceremony uniform.

The Tillies’ campaign got off to a rocky start last week when their bags and medical gear were lost when the team travelled from their training camp in Spain to France.

On Sunday, Chef de Mission Anna Meares stressed the importance of medical equipment including tape, strapping, and scissors, for the Tillies’ performance.

Unfortunately, the Matildas will most likely sit out the opening ceremony with the team to play their first game of the Olympic football tournament Paris 2024 against Germany on Friday morning AEST.
