Ain’t that the best title you’ve seen in a while. You’ve read that correctly. Metallica have finally announced the Australian and New Zealand legs of their multi-year M72 World Tour in 2025. After teasing us with No Repeat Weekends across the world over the past 18 months or so since 72 Seasons was released.

After suggesting the time is coming soon when we recently spoke with bassist Robert Trujillo, we finally know that the metal gods will hit stadiums in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Auckland; don’t we love to see it. The tour starts in the west on November 1st 2025 with supports from Evanescence and Suicidal Tendencies.

That’s right – two international supports on the Metallica ANZ tour. It’ll be great to see Amy Lee and the band head back down under after their 2023 return to the country, who celebrated an epic anniversary for breakthrough record Fallen. Joining them are some of Trujillo‘s favourites in Suicidal Tendencies, with some of the band who he recently toured with in long-time side-project Infectious Grooves. Don’t forget, this will include drummer ex-Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg.

It has been 11 long years since Metallica entranced Aussie fans with their stunning live show; specifically the unforgettable Soundwave 2013 alongside the likes of Linkin Park, blink-182 and dozens more. Following this, the biggest heavy metal band on the planet had planned a stadium tour across the country in 2019 with Slipknot to perform tracks off Hardwired… To Self-Destruct but devastatingly had to cancel due to frontman James Hetfield focusing on his well-being and entering rehab. A few months ago, when we got on their case of when they’re coming, we got the goss direct from Trujillo who said:  

“Yes, we will be there and it’s definitely going to happen. We’re excited. Kirk and I – whenever we go to Australia, it’s so special because it becomes not just a music experience, it becomes a surf experience! We almost forget we’re on tour because we’ll be going to Bells Beach, or we’re going to Kirra, hanging out on the Gold Coast. We even went surfing in Wollongong and we went to Kalbarri on the West Coast outside of Perth.”
