Miley Cyrus in legal trouble over hit song Flowers

Well, it has been a raging dinner party debate for decades, with fans of the mockumentary sitcom The Office divided as to whether the original British version starring Ricky Gervais, who also created it, or the American version starring Steve Carell is superior.

Well, this morning, there’s a third hat in the ring as we get our first look at the Australian iteration of The Office.

And Miley Cyrus is in some legal trouble, being sued for copyright infringement that alleges she and her team responsible for the mega-hit Flowers, copied Bruno Mars’ 2013 song, When I Was Your Man.

Now, we’d always assumed that Flowers was a kind of a companion piece, inspired by Bruno’s lovely, sad song and written, recorded and released with his blessing.

But now it is messy.

The court documents say Flowers would not exist without When I Was Your Man, which is true, I would have thought, but it’s worth noting that Bruno is not a plaintiff in the lawsuit, it’s some investment company who’ve got a piece of the publishing.
