There’s new visa rules coming for Aussies travelling to Europe.

Here’s what you need to know.

Australians used to be able to travel visa free around Europe, but from 2025 that will no longer be the case.

The European Union has introduced the European Travel Information and Authorization System, which is a new entry requirement for visa exempt nationals from 60 nations, including Australians.

Tourists can apply on the ETS website, or APP, with most applications being processed within minutes.

The cost is 7 which is roughly around $11.

The ETS will be linked to your passport and is valid for up to three years or until the passport expires, whichever comes first.

The travel authorization is a requirement for all Australian travelling to 30 countries within Europe, including France, Greece and Italy.

With a valid ETS travel authorization, you can enter the territory of the European country as often as you want for short-term stays.

However, the EU states it does not guarantee entry and a border guard will ask to see your passport and other documents and verify that you meet the entry conditions
